January 23, 2012 is a Holiday
Good news to students and employees, January 23, 2011 will be a special non-working holiday throughout the Philippines based Proclamation No. 295 of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III. The holiday is due to the celebration of Chinese New Year.
This is the first time that Chinese New Year will be observed in a national level but since there are considerable number of Filipino-Chinese here in the country, the administration decided to make it as a holiday.
Also, January 23, 2012 falls on a Monday which means that it will be long weekend. Those who will be required to work on that date shall receive additional compensation based on existing labor law.
